Always looking to expand our capabilities, we recently purchased a large bed CNC router, 50”x110”x12”, and it is now residing in our wood shop. However, before it was up and running to our standards there was some rebuilding required.
Our first endeavor was fabricating a suitable enclosure to rehouse all of its electrical components. A custom enclosure was built and the internal rewiring redone. Moving forward, a handful of mechanical fixes were also implemented including the addition of an Adjustable Frequency drive to control the router’s speed more precisely.
Getting this machine up and running is a very exciting prospect for us, as we can utilize it for numerous types of projects! We can now take on such projects as routing out topographical maps, table tops, or even foam designs. There are now a host of new possibilities at our fingertips!
